Google boosts smartwatch expertise by buying smartwatch maker WIMM Labs

It was reported that Google quietly acquired an Android smartwatch startup laster for an undisclosed sum. acquisition of the company, WIMM Labs, is likely to kickstart Google’s smartwatch efforts.

The LinkedIn profiles of WIMM’s former VP of software and a senior software engineer now show that they have been Google employees since September 2012. In addition, WIMM’s website states that the company has “entered into an exclusive, confidential relationship” for their technology in the summer of 2012.

In 2012, WIMM was making headlines for its Android smartwatch, the WIMM One. However, shortly after the launch of the WIMM One, the company deleted all its social media accounts and silence ensued.
